A Fountain man was sentenced to five years of probation on Wednesday after pleading guilty to sexual exploitation of a child.

According to previous Gazette reporting, Fountain police detectives arrested 23-year-old Shane Michael Anderson last year on charges of sexual exploitation of children-distribution material, a class three felony, and sexual exploitation of children-video, moving visual images or motion picture, a class four felony.

According to court records, Anderson pleaded guilty to the count four felony of sexual exploitation in November, and appeared in court on Wednesday to be sentenced.

Anderson appeared to court out of custody and informed Judge Erin Sokol that since the incident he has begun turning his life around, and intends to use the opportunity of not going to jail to begin college.

Sokol sentenced Anderson to five years of sex offender intensive supervised probation, which is among the strictest probation programs in the state. The sentencing terms were stipulated by the plea agreement prior to Wednesday’s hearing.
