84-year-old woman accused of attempted murder in attack involving elderly women at Colorado Springs apartment
An 84-year-old woman was arrested Saturday for the alleged attempted murder of two people at a Colorado Springs apartment building this month.
According to the arrest affidavit for the suspect, Myrtle Charlene Wolf, officers arrived to the 900 block of East Colorado Avenue just after 9 p.m. after receiving a call from a 72-year-old female victim, who informed officers that she was woken up when the suspect tried strangling her. She told police she recently had hip surgery and leaves the front door of her apartment unlocked so her friends can come check on her.
The victim said Wolf allegedly used an electrical stun device to “zap” her neck and chest which was painful.The victim police she tried to fight back but then Wolf began punching her.
The victim was able to get away and ran into the hallway to bang on neighbors’ doors for help. One of the neighbors, 80, confronted Wolf in the hallway, who was allegedly holding a knife and pointing it at them. The neighbor said she grabbed the knife and hit Wolf’s hand to make her let go.
The victim told officers this was the second time Wolf had attacked her. There was a protection order in place as a result of the previous assault, reported in August of 2024.
According to court records, Wolf is facing felony charges for attempted second-degree murder, burglary, menacing, and assault among other charges. She was bonded out of jail and her next court appearance is Jan. 24 at 10 a.m.
