The Kadets guard added nine rebounds and five steals in the matchup against the Cyclones and, in a 66-38 win against Lewis-Palmer, Asp added 16 points to help the Kadets remain undefeated.

Emma Hill, jr., Liberty, girls basketball — The Lancers forward scored a season-high 14 points against Pueblo County to help Liberty win.

More impressive, though, Hill managed eight steals, which was her season total through eight games.

Kate Jorstad, so., Manitou Springs, girls basketball — The Mustangs sophomore had one of her best games of the season in a 37-32 win against Banning Lewis.

Jorstad scored a season-best 16 points for Manitou Springs and nearly earned a triple-double. She had nine rebounds and seven assists in the victory.

Brandon Dean, sr., Sand Creek, boys wrestling — 4A’s No. 1 157-pounder demonstrated why he owns the top spot.

Dean won the 2025 COS Metro Wrestling Championships title by dominating his bracket. Dean earned four victories — two via pin and the others by tech fall.

His final tech fall came in the tournament’s finals against Cheyenne Mountain’s Wyatt Boley.

Max Pogline, so., Falcon, boys wrestling — Pogline improved to 23-6 with a quartet of victories at the COS Metro Wrestling Championships tournament.

Pogline opened with a pin in 48 seconds against Calhan’s David Thompson and remained unstoppable for the remainder of the event.

In the finals, Pogline earned an 18-3 tech fall win against Air Academy’s Trent Lainez to capture the 132-pound title.

Taylor Hall, jr., Widefield, girls wrestling — One season after placing fifth at the COS Metro Wrestling Championships, Hall found redemption this year.

Hall secured three pins and a 4-1 decision in the 155-pound finals against Palmer Ridge’s top-seeded Sakari David to win the title. As a sophomore, Hall finished 32-13 last season. This year, she is 20-6.

Jessica Farmer, sr., Coronado, girls wrestling — Farmer nearly captured a Metro crown as a junior at 110 pounds. This season, the Cougars senior terrorized her bracket.

Farmer, the No. 3-ranked 115-pounder, finished her first three matches via pin in 34 seconds or less.

Against Palmer Ridge’s Landry Riddle, Farmer went the distance but still cruised to an 8-2 win to earn the championship and to improve to 25-3 this season.

Cheyenne Becker, jr., Woodland Park, girls wrestling — Becker earned consecutive COS Metro Wrestling Championships with her victory in the 235-pound bracket.

Becker won an 8-2 decision against Widefield’s Rilen-Rose Casares in the finals.

The freshman finished first in the 100-meter fly at 1 minute, 10.61 seconds, nearly 8 seconds quicker than second place.

Also, Hausner dominated in the 500 freestyle, beating the competition by nearly 20 seconds with a 6:26.80.

Megan Havenar, so., Liberty, girls swimming — The Lancers won all but two events in their dual with Coronado, and Havenar picked up two wins in individual swims for Liberty.

Havenar clocked in at 2:11.98 for first in the 200 freestyle and at 1:19.28 in the 100 breaststroke for another victory.

Featured Local Savings

Nathan Considine, sr., Pine Creek, ice hockey — Not much got past Considine last week and that’s been the case all season.

Considine had 23 saves in a 4-1 win against Lewis-Palmer, bringing his season saves total to 214, which is 62nd in the nation.

The Eagles senior has a 1.4 goals-against average, which is third in Colorado and nationally. Pine Creek (9-1-1) has allowed just 17 goals in 11 games.

CSCS girls basketball remains a force in 3A

After winning back-to-back 3A championships but losing star players Grace Minihane (graduation) and Kinley Asp (transfer) the Lions remain formidable in 3A.

Colorado Springs Christian started 0-2, but has won six consecutive games, five by double figures, and is in the top 10 in CHSAA’s 3A RPI poll.

Sophomore Rose Ross is top 25 in Colorado in multiple categories, including 24th in points per game at 19.8, 22nd in assists at 4.6 and 18th in steals at 6. Abigail Perry is 16th in rebounds at 12.9 per contest.

Thomas MacLaren’s Lance Mathews leads Colorado in total rebounds

Mathews’ 156 rebounds through 11 games for the Highlanders is the most in Colorado boys basketball this season.

The Highlanders junior ranks fourth in the state in rebounds per game at 14.6, which is also 45th in the nation. His jump to 14.6 boards per game is nearly seven more per contest from his sophomore season.

Kassiah Ducworth continues dominant season for Ellicott girls basketball

The Thunderhawks’ four-sport athlete’s stats on the basketball court remain a key cog in Ellicott’s 8-1 start.

Ducworth’s 14.7-point average through nine contests leads the team, and her 10.8 rebounds and 5.3 steals are both 33rd in Colorado.

On defense, Ducworth averages 5.2 blocks per game, which ranks fourth in Colorado.
