A beloved Old Colorado City restaurant, which closed its doors in December to widespread dismay, appears poised to make a comeback.
In a Facebook post this week, Mountain Shadows Restaurant co-owner Kasie Swain announced that the longtime breakfast eatery at 2223 W. Colorado Ave., has been sold, and that new ownership plans to “keep it as original as possible.”
Swain, who purchased the restaurant in 2010 after working on the staff for years, announced in a Dec. 9 social media post that Mountain Shadows would be closing permanently.

“I really hope someone who loves this place buys it — I need to sell it ASAP,” Swain wrote in December.
It appears that Swain has gotten her wish.
On Wednesday, she posted, “I’m very excited to share this news! I have sold the restaurant, huge thing for me.”
Swain did not disclose the name of the buyers, but wrote, “The people I have chosen for this next chapter are good people. They will cherish Mountain Shadows as much as I.”
Celebratory comments came in droves after the announcement.

“This makes me so happy,” wrote Sue Sanicky, one of nearly 100 people who had responded to the Facebook post as of Thursday afternoon.
“This is awesome news! Yay!” Erin Grandison wrote.
“I am thrilled for you and for us!” wrote Jessica Lawler.
When asked if the new owner would retain the cooks and servers, Swain said she recommended some of them to the new owners.
The closing date is set for Friday, according to the post.
“A new energy is coming in,” Swain wrote, “and I’m confident about that!”
