Man detained after intentionally crashing car at Colorado Springs police headquarters
A man was hospitalized for mental health evaluation after admitting that he intentionally crashed his car at Colorado Springs police headquarters on Friday, law enforcement officials said.
The incident took place just after 10:30 p.m. at the Police Operations Center on South Nevada Avenue, when a man entered the building and said he purposely drove his vehicle over a curb, colliding with a barrier wall and bench outside the main entrance. The man told police he was being chased by a number of people who wanted to kill him.
After speaking with police, the driver agreed to be placed on a 72-hour mental health hold at UCHealth Memorial Hospital Central, officials said. He has not yet been charged.
