Man arrested after allegedly starting fire, attacking security guard in downtown Colorado Springs

A man was arrested for allegedly assaulting a security guard in downtown Colorado Springs early Thursday after he confronted him about a fire he started.

Colorado Springs police said Victor Gregory, 44, allegedly started a fire in a stairway of a large business complex on the 100 block of South Tejon Street near West Colorado Avenue just before 1:30 a.m., according to a blotter entry.

Police said the security guard sustained minor injuries from the attack.

Gregory was arrested on suspicion of arson and assault. He is being held at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on a $50,000 bond. His next appearance is Jan. 16 at 1:30 p.m.
