One person is dead and two others injured after a shooting in Security-Widefield early Thursday morning.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of shots fired at about 1 a.m. Thursday in the 7000 block of Dove Creek Circle, near Fontaine and Powers boulevards, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Officers said the caller indicated one person at the home had been shot.

The Sheriff’s Office said deputies found three people with gunshot wounds. Two were hospitalized and their conditions are unknown. One person had died at the scene.

Deputies said another person with an apparent gunshot wound arrived at an area hospital shortly after the incident. They are investigating if the person has any connections to  this shooting.

The Sheriff’s Office, which said Thursday morning there was no ongoing danger to the community, is leading the investigation.
