Nearly 2,000 customers lose power after vehicle crashes into electric equipment in north Colorado Springs

Shooting on Colorado Springs' east side investigated

Nearly 2,000 customers near Woodmen Road and North Academy Boulevard were left without power after a vehicle struck electric equipment Thursday morning.

Colorado Springs Utilities sent crews to the area and resolved the outage in under an hour. As of 11:15 a.m., all impacted customers could once again turn on their lights and heaters.

During power outages, officials remind drivers to treat any dark intersections as 4-way-stops and exercise caution on the roads.
