A man was injured in a shooting this morning in a neighborhood on the 2600 block of Bijou Street, just east of Memorial Park near Circle Drive and Bijou Street.

Colorado Springs police first responded to a call to an adult male who was shot in a parking lot in the 2500 block of Bijou Street at about 7 a.m., according to a blotter entry.

Bijou Street from Dudley Avenue to Trump Avenue was blocked off for a couple hours while police investigated the area. Colorado Springs Police Department vehicles and the department’s Tactical Enforcement Unit responded to the scene.

Once officers arrived they transported the man to a local hospital for his injuries and after investigation, they entered the house in the 2600 Block of East Bijou Street. Police detained several people inside the house for questioning.

Sergeant Mike Freeman with the Colorado Springs Police Department confirmed the shooting took place inside the Bijou Street residence, and that no one was killed.

Police Wednesday afternoon assessed the area and are in the process of investigating the shooting, interviewing suspects and taking the shooter into custody. They said the area is secure and there is no danger to the public.
