The man accused of killing three in Custer County in 2023 over a land dispute pleaded not guilty to all charges at a court hearing Tuesday.

Hanme Clark, 45, is accused of shooting and killing three Custer County residents — Rob Geers, his wife, Beth Wade Geers, and James Daulton — in November over what the arrest affidavit obtained by The Gazette described as a land dispute outside the town of Westcliffe.

Daulton’s wife, Patty Daulton, was also allegedly shot by Clark, but survived the shooting, suffering serious injuries.

Clark appeared virtually to Custer County court from the Pueblo County jail for his arraignment hearing on Tuesday, where he pleaded not guilty to all charges. Clark faces six charges, including three counts of first-degree murder.

Clark is now slated to begin a two-week-long jury trial on June 16.

Prior to trial, Clark and his attorneys will return to court for a motions hearing on Feb. 18. One motion that will be discussed in more depth at the hearing is an outstanding motion to have Clark moved from the Pueblo County jail back to Custer County.

Last year the previous judge in the case, Lynette Wenner, denied the motion stating she had no control over where law enforcement opt to detain Clark. The new judge, Lauren Swan, asked the prosecution why Clark is being held in Pueblo County and was told it was for “security reasons.”

Swan scheduled a motions hearing in February to properly rule on the motion, as well as a recently filed motion for sanctions from Clark’s attorney Janene McCabe.

Clark’s girlfriend and co-defendant, Nancy Medina-Kochis, who faces five counts of accessory to a crime, has yet to enter a plea in her case and is set to return to court on March 4 for an arraignment hearing.

Clark remains in custody at the Pueblo County jail on a $2 million bond. Medina-Kochis remains out of custody since posting a $100,000 cash bond last year, according to court records.
