The Denver Gazette sports staff predicts Sunday’s Broncos-Chiefs game:
Paul Klee’s pick: Broncos 23, Chiefs 10
Losing to the Chiefs’ backups in a win-and-you’re-in game would be the worst loss in Broncos history; the 18th loss in 19 games vs. a former division rival; a guaranteed trip to the hot seat to welcome Sean Payton’s third season in Denver. Good thing it won’t happen. Right?
Klee’s record: 11-5 overall
Chris Schmaedeke’s pick: Broncos 20, Chiefs 13
This game is going to be closer than the Broncos want it to be, but the Chiefs are not going to just tank for Denver to make the playoffs. No fan will feel comfortable until late in the fourth quarter. But the Broncos get it done and prepare for a trip to Buffalo.

After waiting nearly nine years to end a playoff drought, Broncos Country would lose its ever-losing mind if our local heroes blow it this time with a three-game losing streak, topped off by taking an ‘L’ to Kansas City’s jayvee team. Can’t happen, can it? It better not, Mr. Payton.

It’s the Chiefs world. We’re all just living in it. The Broncos lack enough big-game experience to beat the two-time defending champs with everything on the line. Carson Wentz will show the NFL world that he’s still a viable starter. The Broncos will need help to get in the playoffs.
