Woman dead in Colorado Springs RV fire
A fire broke out Thursday morning in a recreational vehicle on the city’s east side, killing one woman, according to the Colorado Springs Fire Department.
Personnel were dispatched to 5595 E. Bijou St. at 10:06 a.m. Upon arrival, they observed light smoke coming from an RV.
When firefighters entered the vehicle, they were met with heavy smoke and low visibility. The fire was put out within seconds and an adult female was located inside. She was pronounced dead on the scene.
The department initially posted on X — formerly known as Twitter — just before 10:40 a.m.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, according to department spokesperson Ashley Franco.
Fire Investigators are on scene working to determine the origin and cause. The Colorado Springs Police Department will investigate the death.
