1 arrested after monthslong homicide investigation in Colorado Springs
The man allegedly responsible for the death of 55-year-old Omar Olmedo in late February in Colorado Springs has been arrested, police said Tuesday in a news release.
On Feb. 26 just before 6:15 a.m., Colorado Springs police responded to an assault in the 3200 block of South Academy Boulevard, finding an unresponsive male when they arrived.
The man, later identified as Olmedo, was hospitalized and died March 5 because of his injuries. The El Paso County Coroner’s Office ruled the cause of death as a homicide.
Following several months of investigation, police sought an arrest warrant for 38-year-old Marquise Hutt. On Dec. 5, he was taken into custody .
Hutt remains in El Paso County Jail with a $1,000,000 bond as of Tuesday afternoon.
