A Pueblo man is facing a slew of charges after allegedly kidnapping his ex-girlfriend and fleeing to Colorado Springs.

On Thursday just before 4 a.m., Pueblo police officers responded to a report of a kidnapping in progress. When law enforcement arrived to the 2200 block of East 12th Street, they learned the suspect had left in a vehicle with his ex-girlfriend.

The reporting party told police the suspect was 33-year-old Stevie Flores and that the female’s family called 911 out of concern for her safety.

Officers were able to locate Flores’ vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but he fled. Police were concerned for the female’s safety and initiated a pursuit.

Law enforcement said Flores was driving northbound on Interstate 25 and several agencies were calling in to assist, including Colorado State Patrol. The vehicle was successfully stopped on Las Vegas Street in Colorado Springs.

Flores was taken into custody without incident and transported down to the Pueblo County Detention Center. He faces charges including 2nd degree kidnapping, domestic violence, vehicular eluding, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and warrants for criminal impersonation and failure to appear.

Police confirmed through a news release Thursday the female victim was safely rescued and transported back to Pueblo.
