A woman was injured Wednesday morning in a shooting at a residence in the 1600 block of Rushmore Drive, near South Circle Drive and U.S. 24.

Officers received a call about a shooting and arrived around 4 a.m. to find the victim bleeding heavily from her right arm in an upstairs bedroom.

Ulises Jaquez-Hernandez was arrested and taken into custody after first fleeing, then returning to the residence.

After interviewing involved parties, officers determined the victim was shot by Hernandez through the bedroom door and the one round struck her in the right arm. They also determined the incident stemmed from an argument between Hernandez and his father.

The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
