A man was arrested last week on suspicion of attempted murder of his ex-girlfriend in the Rockrimmon area in north Colorado Springs.

Ronald Dorsey, 19, was arrested Dec. 13 by the Colorado Springs Police Department in the 800 block of Vindicator Drive and was taken to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.

The victim, 17, called Dec. 13 to report a prior domestic disturbance early that morning and when police arrived she went on to say she had been assaulted and strangled by Dorsey.

She told police there was a protection order in place after he was previously arrested for domestic violence charges. She stated that Dorsey had been violating that order in attempts to reach her. She said throughout the course of their relationship that he regularly assaulted her but this time was the worst. She said, along with the strangulation, he also threatened her with a handgun and struck her with it.

She said he eventually let her go and she was able to get back to her home. She then went to Memorial Hospital to be treated for her injuries, where she spoke with detectives.

Dorsey is facing attempted murder in the second degree, assault and kidnapping charges, among others. He remained in custody as of midday Monday, with a $100,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 2.
