Former high school athlete arrested in teen sex assault case
A 20-year-old man turned himself in to authorities over the weekend after the Colorado Springs Police Department alleged that he had sex with a then-14-year-old, videotaped the incident, and shared the video with others.
Dallen Jalae Booker turned himself in on Sunday, according to Colorado Springs police. The arrest affidavit for the former Widefield High School athlete alleges that he had sex with the victim in July 2023 while she was “extremely intoxicated.”
He is charged with sexual exploitation of a child and sexual assault on a child.
Booker was a varsity member of the Widefield High track and basketball team, according to Maxpreps.com. He is currently listed as a member of the Nebraska Wesleyan University track and field roster as a junior.
The affidavit describes a video, shared on more than one social media platform, that showed the sex as well as the faces of the victim and Booker. The investigator in the case noted in the affidavit that based on the angle of the video “it did not appear that there was a third-party present who could have been recording the incident.”
The affidavit states that Booker admitted to investigators that he had sex with the victim and had taken the video, but said he was told the victim had been older, and that he had not been the one to share the video to social media.
Booker was free on bond as of Monday evening. His first appearance court hearing is scheduled for Dec. 26.
