Colorado Springs police investigate alleged break-in, shots fired

Colorado Springs police are looking for a suspect in a home invasion that left a resident injured early Sunday, law enforcement officials said.

The incident took place just before 2:30 a.m. at a residence in the 700 block of Sahwatch Street, according to police. Officers responding to a call about a home invasion determined that a suspect, who was armed with a crowbar, gained entry by breaking the front window of the home.

One of residents confronted and fought with the suspect before being assaulted with the crowbar, police said. The suspect then left the home on foot. The victim was taken to a hospital; their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The suspect and victim did not know each other, and the motive behind the break-in is not yet known, officials said.
