Gazette staff predictions for Sunday’s Broncos-Colts game

Now that Peyton Manning is predicting "my Broncos" will make the playoffs, is it fair to say his conversion from Midwesterner to Coloradan is complete?

The Denver Gazette sports staff predicts Sunday’s Broncos-Colts game:

Paul Klee’s pick: Broncos 24, Colts 23

Now that Peyton Manning is predicting “my Broncos” will make the playoffs, is it fair to say his conversion from Midwesterner to full-blown Coloradan is complete? Expect a few CBS shots of Denver’s most famous season-ticket holder as the Broncos all but clinch a postseason berth.

Klee’s record: 8-5 overall

Chris Schmaedeke’s pick: Broncos 27, Colts 21

In one of the biggest games in Denver in a long time, the Broncos take care of business. The Denver defense bounces back and forces Colts QB Anthony Richardson into a turnover while Bo Nix stays steady and confident.

Schmaedeke’s record: 10-3 overall

Chris Tomasson’s pick: Broncos 23, Colts 20

Give the nod to Bo Nix in the Peyton Manning Bowl. The Broncos rookie quarterback shined against the Colts in his first preseason game and now he gets to look good against them when it counts.

Tomasson’s record: 9-4 overall

Mark Kiszla’s pick: Broncos 24, Colts 23

While I was one of few knuckleheads in our dusty old cowtown bold enough to predict way back in September that the Broncos would make the playoffs, never did I imagine they could all but lock up a wild-card berth before Christmas. But doing it won’t be easy, because this is a must win for Indianapolis, and a desperate team is a dangerous team.

Kiszla’s record: 7-6 overall

Kyle Fredrickson’s pick: Broncos 35, Colts 27

Shootout alert! Get ready for another wild game at Empower Field with the Broncos and Colts exchanging blows well into the fourth quarter. Secondary injuries, once again, expose Denver’s defense on the back end. But rookie QB Bo Nix will do just enough for a victory.

Fredrickson’s record: 9-4 overall
