Former El Paso County deputy accused of human trafficking

A former El Paso County Sheriff’s deputy was arrested Thursday on suspicion of human trafficking.

The former deputy, 63-year-old Ivan Sundheim, was arrested by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office in Spring, Texas, and booked into the Harris County jail, where he is being held without bond as of Friday. He faces charges of human trafficking for involuntary servitude, a class 3 felony.

Sundheim was employed by the Sheriff’s Office from March 1993 until his retirement in April 2013. Public records show he moved from Colorado Springs to Texas in 2022.

The allegations were reported to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office in May 2024. An investigation into the allegation led to an arrest warrant that was issued Thursday. The alleged incident took place during Sundheim’s employment with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
