Skoog gets Service to Mankind award from Gleneagle Sertoma
Daryl Skoog was named the 2024 “Service to Mankind” award winner by the Gleneagle Sertoma Club.
Skoog is a volunteer with Silver Key and other local organizations.
“Daryl’s efforts have made a substantial impact at Silver Key Senior Services, as well as Family Promise, and Lessons for Life Services,” Gleneagle Sertoma said in a press release.
The Club said Skoog had provided over 2,000 service hours for Silver Key over the past four years, providing 2,072 rides transporting over 2,500 seniors.
“As a board member and fleet management volunteer at Family Promise over the past twelve years, Daryl has been able to acquire vehicles for homeless families to ensure transportation to enhance their quality of life and independence,” Sertoma said “Outside of this service organization, Daryl has also purchased, repaired, and gifted over 53 vehicles for families in need.
“Over the past seven years serving Lessons for Life Services, Daryl has consistently volunteered to help the prison ministry population. He’s able to connect with individuals during and after their incarceration to aid in their faith journey.”
Each year Sertoma (SERviceTO MANkind) clubs across the country recognize a (nonmember) volunteer in their area for their extraordinary service to the local community.
Gleneagle Sertoma meets twice monthly for lunch and program meetings, and performs service projects and fundraising events with the stated goal of helping make the community a better place.
