A man wanted for his involvement in a domestic violence incident involving a knife was arrested Wednesday night in a nearby drainage tunnel, according to Colorado Springs police.

Officers were called to the 3100 block of Boychuk Avenue, just off South Academy Boulevard and Hancock Expressway in the southeastern part of the city, around 9:45 p.m.

The man, later identified as Trey Gaffron, fled the scene shortly before officers arrived, according to an online police blotter entry. Gaffron, 52, was already wanted on multiple arrest warrants.

Gaffron ended up hiding in a drainage tunnel beneath South Academy Boulevard, according to the blotter. Police talked to the suspect for about 40 minutes before he eventually walked out and turned himself in.

Gaffron was arrested on the existing arrest warrants and faces new charges of felony menacing and second-degree assault .

Gaffron is scheduled in court Friday and Dec. 10. No bond has been set.
