Victim identified in Pueblo senior living center homicide
A 72-year-old woman faces murder charges after an elderly man was discovered dead at a senior living center in Pueblo last month.
On Nov. 24 just after 5:30 p.m., Pueblo police responded to Bonaventure Senior Living for a reported death. An investigation was initiated and the special victims unit was called in to assist. An arrest was made shortly after.
On Monday, the Pueblo County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 85-year-old Larry Lawton of Pueblo. The coroner ruled that his death was due to injuries that police say were allegedly sustained in a domestic violence incident.
Police have named and arrested 72-year-old Kathy Lawton as the suspect. She remains in Pueblo County jail on bonds totaling over $250,000. Alongside Lawton’s second-degree murder charge, she is also facing harassment charges, according to jail records.
This was Pueblo’s 18th homicide in 2024, according to police.
