Arrest made in shooting, sexual assault case in Colorado Springs: Police
O’Dell Isaac, The Gazette
Colorado Springs police have made an arrest connected to a Monday shooting on the east side of the city, officials said.
Hannah Viramontes, 26, faces charges of kidnapping and sexual assault, according to a Tuesday blotter entry.
Officers responded to a 1:30 p.m. call about a shooting in the 1200 block of Kingsley Drive, just south of Twain Park and San Miguel Street. When they arrived, they found a woman at the residence with visible injuries but no gunshot wounds, officials said.
Not far from the residence, near Twain Park, officers found Viramontes, who had sustained a gunshot wound. Earlier reports erroneously stated that the gunshot victim was male. Detectives with the Police Department’s Domestic Violence/Adult Sexual Assault unit took the lead in the investigation.
Viramontes, who is expected to recover from her injuries, is the only person arrested in connection with the case so far, officials said.
