An out-of-state company that provides support to defense and civilian government agencies across the globe has acquired a veteran-owned defense support services firm in Colorado Springs.

Delta Solutions & Strategies, founded in 2000 and headquartered in Colorado Springs, was acquired Friday by Ukpeaġvik Iñupiat Corporation (UIC), an Alaska Native Corporation, in UIC’s largest acquisition to date. Delta joins UIC as part of the Springfield, Va.-based Bowhead Family of Companies within the UIC Government Services federal contracting division, according to a Monday news release.

Details of the deal were not disclosed, but Delta President and CEO Mark Stafford said Monday that Bowhead acquired 70% of the company. Stafford retains the remaining 30%.

Stafford characterized the integration as “extremely positive” for both entities.

“UIC Bowhead has been a partner with us for over 10 years, so we knew our cultures worked together. We have a great relationship between the two companies, a deep respect, and our core values are the same. That made the acquisition much easier,” he said.

Bowhead has 3,000 employees and 300 contracts, with 16 offices across the U.S., the release said. This includes a Colorado Springs office on Inverness Drive. It offers services in systems and information technology, logistics and marine, engineering and program management, manufacturing and products, and advanced technology.

Delta Solutions & Strategies has 400 employees across its locations in 27 states as well as Korea, Japan and Germany, with close to 200 employees along Colorado’s Front Range, Stafford said. Delta, which is a prime contractor for Colorado Springs-based U.S. Space Command, creates military training products, provides operations and maintenance, modeling and simulations, and professional and technical advisory and assistance services for the Department of Defense. Its 175 subcontractors support 46 federal contracts.

UIC Chief Operating Officer Jeevan Pokharel spearheaded Delta’s acquisition to “enhance and expand Bowhead’s service offerings for the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Space Force and U.S. Space Command,” the news release said.

Acquiring Delta will provide Bowhead “with new capabilities and exceptional service offerings” to complement its existing services, and is expected to help Bowhead secure more government contracts, according to the release. The integration provides Delta access to more Department of Defense federal contracts, enhanced expertise and services, and access to funding and business resources to help it grow and strengthen operations.

By leveraging Delta’s specialized expertise, we are positioned to offer an even broader range of services, helping our clients address the ever-evolving challenges in defense and national security,” Dr. Pearl K. Brower, UIC President and CEO, said in the release.

Delta will undergo a name change to Delta Solutions & Strategies — Bowhead, but its headquarters will stay in Colorado Springs and there will be no change in personnel, Stafford said.

Its senior leadership team will also remain in place. Stafford remains as president and CEO for the next five years, and others — Chief Financial Officer Debbie Leach, Chief Operating Officer Scott Anible and Vice President of Business Development Bob Veazey — for “at least three years,” he said.

After that?

“We’re going to keep growing the business together as partners. Hopefully, we keep growing at the same rate we have been. I only anticipate success going forward,” Stafford said.
