A man died in a shooting late Tuesday night following a fight near Chelton Road and Jet Wing Drive. 

Colorado Springs police said they were called to an apartment complex on the 1900 block of south Chelton Road around 10:40 p.m. and found a man on the ground with at least one gunshot wound.

The officers attempted to save his life, but the man died, police said. 

Police said the investigation showed the shooting followed a fight and detectives are working to find the suspect. The victim knew the shooter, police said. 

The victim was inside the apartment and was visiting for a purpose, not just passing by, police spokeswoman Caitlin Ford said.
