Investigators have dropped the case against a Colorado Springs Police Department sergeant, who was accused of inappropriate sexual contact with a minor —  though charges of intimidating a witness and violation of a protection order remain.

Gazette news partner KOAA confirmed with the Woodland Park Police Department said it could not find sufficient evidence to press charges against Sgt. Glenn Thomas after an accusation that he inappropriately touched a 10-year-old.

The department’s response:

Good afternoon. The original case was closed because probable cause could not be established by the case officer. We have no other cases open involving this subject.

Court documents uncovered by KOAA alleged that Thomas confronted the child at their school, following the touching allegation, leading to the intimidation and protection order charges.

Thomas is on administrative leave pending results of an internal affairs investigation. He was released from jail on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond Friday. He is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 3.
