Northbound I-25 to close overnight in southern Colorado
Those hoping to get an early start on weekend travel, beware. The Colorado Department of Transportation announced on Thursday that northbound Interstate 25 will be closed overnight near the Southern Colorado city of Walsenburg, about 40 miles from the New Mexico border.
CDOT officials say the closure will allow crews to shift traffic over the CO Highway 10 Bridge, under construction as part of the Walsenburg Bridge Replacement Project.
The closure will be in affect from 5 p.m. Thursday through 11 a.m. Friday. Starting Friday, northbound traffic will be down to one lane from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, and during working hours the week of Nov. 24.
The detour, estimated by CDOT at about 8 minutes, takes travelers through Walsenburg via Main Street. Officials encourage planning for delays and alternate routes.
