The Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division announced over the weekend an Army sergeant who went missing from Fort Johnson, La. was found deceased.

Sgt. David Lee Johnson was believed to be en route to Colorado and may have been in possession of firearms.

The agency said it is working with local police to determine the circumstances of Johnson’s death and did not release further details.

He was reported missing on Oct. 28 from the Louisiana base and subsequently declared absent without leave.

The division was previously offering up to $10,000 for information about Johnson, which has since been rescinded.

He was last seen in Amarillo, Texas, according to previous statements from the agency.
