2 motorcyclists killed in separate crashes in Colorado Springs on Sunday
Two motorcyclists are dead following two separate collisions that took place within about 90 minutes of each other on Sunday, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.
At about 3:30 p.m., officers were called to a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle in the 600 block of Garden of the Gods Road, near North Chestnut Street, police said. The motorcycle rider was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Just before 5 p.m. Sunday, officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of Monterey Road, where there had been a second collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle. When the officers arrived, they found the motorcyclist unconscious in the road, police said. Fire department and American Medical Response personnel administered aid, but the rider died at the scene.
Investigators determined that excessive speed was a factor in the second crash. No arrests were announced in either incident.
