Woodland Park elementary schools closed Wednesday due to Highland Lakes blaze
Two Woodland Park School District elementary schools remained closed on Wednesday as firefighting crews continued to battle the Highland Lakes fire near Divide, according to the school district’s website.
The campuses of Summit and Columbine elementary schools were closed to students and staff, the website stated. A date for return to normal school operations had not been given. Woodland Park’s secondary campus was scheduled to operate remotely, with students expected to log in for online learning.
As of Tuesday evening, the Highland Lakes fire had burned about 166 acres and had reached 60% containment, officials said.
