Ballots started going out on Oct. 11 for the Nov. 5 general election, when voters across Teller county will cast their votes for a slew of national, state, county and municipal races and ballot measures.

Colorado’s elections are conducted by mail ballot. Voters are mailed their ballot, and may return it at their convenience in several ways. Voters may drop ballots off in a secure ballot drop box, can drop it off at a Voter Service and Polling Center, or may mail it to their county clerk’s office with adequate postage.

Voters can also vote in person at a Voter Service and Polling Center.

Coloradans can register to vote or update their voter registration information through Election Day, Nov. 5.

Ballots must be received by the county clerk’s office no later than 7 p.m. Nov. 5. Postmarks do not count.

Here is a list of key dates to note as the election draws near:

• Oct. 11: Teller County’s three secure, 24-hour mail ballot drop boxes opened. Voters may drop off their ballots at any of the county’s drop boxes through 7 p.m. Nov. 5.

• Oct. 14: Voter Service and Polling Centers begin opening in El Paso County. A list of locations and operating hours is online at clerkandrecorder.elpasoco.com/elections/ballot-drop-boxes-vspc-locations.

• Oct. 21: Early voting available at the Voter Service and Polling Center at the Woodland Park library (218 E. Midland Ave.) on the ground floor.

• Oct. 28: The last recommended day to return ballots by mail. Ballots must be received by the county clerk’s office no later than 7 p.m. Nov. 5. Postmarks do not count.

• Oct. 28: The last day residents may register to vote or update their voter record online at GoVoteColorado.gov, and still have a ballot mailed to them.

After Oct. 28, people can still register to vote or update their voter record and receive a ballot in person. Both can be done at a Voter Service and Polling Center through Election Day.
