A young Colorado Springs mountain bike race continuing to grow its prestige has announced dates for 2025.

The sixth-year Pikes Peak APEX is set for June 6-8. That’s the same timeframe as the latest three-day event, which had previously ran four days in September.

The recent announcement said registration would open Dec. 1. That’s also when courses are expected to be announced. This past summer’s Pikes Peak APEX returned courses to Palmer Park and North Cheyenne Cañon Park in the Springs and destination singletrack around Cañon City.

The 2024 event was said to attract close to 200 riders, slightly more than 2023 — with a more notable increase in participants 18 and younger thanks to the shift to the out-of-school summer season.

Registration prices from 2024 are slated to be the same starting in December: $295 for the three-day challenge, one-day options starting at $59.

The Pikes Peak APEX has aimed to draw “pros and joes” while dangling a $25,000 prize purse split between men and women. The goal remains the same since the locally unprecedented event launched in 2020: “to create a world-class event that drives economic impact to the area” and cements “Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region as an internationally recognized endurance sports destination.”

Housed under the Colorado Springs Sports Corp., the APEX has been boosted by private, big-name sponsors and, in recent years, $75,000 from the city’s Lodgers and Automobile Rental Tax (LART) fund, which supports events for economic development.
