In an effort to clean up some of its existing policies and ordinance language, the Town of Palmer Lake Board of Trustees approved a handful of actions.

The Board had its regular meeting Sept. 26 at Palmer Lake Town Hall where it approved a change to its town Star lighting policy, an ordinance to correct its park rules, another to amend its liquor licensing and a letter of intent to enter an agreement with the Palmer Divide Soccer Club.

The resolution to revise the town Star lighting policy added Sept. 11 to the star lighting’s list of special days and events to be lit.

An ordinance approved to amend the town’s parks rules was a basic edit. The rules were misplaced under dog regulations in parks. The amendment cleaned up the code relating to rules.

“Nothing changed as far as the language or the rules themselves. We’ve just shifted it to a proper location section,” Town Administrator Dawn Collins said.

The ordinance concerning the town’s liquor licensing amended the procedures regarding liquor license applications including special events. It also adds language to the code which is relative to liquor licensing from the state and cleans up the general process, Collins said.

A letter of intent to enter an agreement with the Palmer Divide Soccer Club was approved. The Parks and Trails Commission is in discussion with the soccer club to improve the south end of the lake for soccer use.

Since the club intends to apply for grant funds to improve the area, and the application deadline is early October, a letter of intent was required to show the club was entering a Memo of Understanding with the town in the near future. This step was needed for the grant application process.
