Fall has come, and with it, pumpkin spice, apple cider and fresh pies.

The flavors of the season are being celebrated around Colorado. Here’s a look at the delicious festivals coming up:

Steamboat Food & Wine Festival, Thursday-Saturday

Over the span of three days, the Steamboat Food & Wine Festival will host seminars and tastings featuring notable chefs and renowned winemakers.

The festival kicks off with a party Thursday afternoon featuring Champagne and appetizers, leading into several dinner options around town. Then Friday, the festival will host a selection of seminars on topics like volcanic winemaking, holistic vineyard practices, Colorado whiskey and charcuterie plating. Attendees can choose among a wide range of dinner options Friday as well.

Saturday morning will begin with a yoga class, followed by a seminar on culinary knife skills. Then, for the remainder of the day, is the grand tasting at Torian Plum of Steamboat Resort featuring acclaimed chefs, winemakers and distillers who will showcase their work.

The celebration will conclude with a fried chicken dinner by chef John Courtney paired with Veuve Clicquot Champagne.

Potato Days in Carbondale, Friday-Sunday

Carbondale’s Potato Days return this weekend, starting the celebration with a barn dance Friday evening.

Saturday will be filled with activities around town for the whole family. In the morning, choose from several community breakfast options, like the Carbondale Rotary Club Pancake Breakfast ($10) or Cowboy Coffee. There will also be a “Tater Trot” Ross Montessori Fun Run starting 9 a.m.

Throughout the day, Sopris Park will host a farmers/artisan market as well as a Spike Ball tournament, live music, barbecue and baked potato lunch ($20). At 10:30 a.m., the Potato Day Parade will make its way down Main Street. On Sunday, there will be a youth gymkhana at Gus Darien Rodeo Grounds and a “Party in the Pasture” at Coffman Ranch.

Tickets to the kickoff barn dance are $20. Other festival events are free and open to the public, with events around Fourth Street Plaza Park, Sopris Park, Main Street and Gus Darien Rodeo Grounds in Carbondale. More information can be found at carbondalerec.com/event/potato-day/.

Cedaredge Applefest, Friday-Sunday

Since 1977, Cedaredge has hosted Applefest as a way to celebrate local farmers and the fall harvest.

On Friday morning, the festival will start with a golf tournament; it will host the Edge of Cedars Art Exhibit throughout the day at the Grand Mesa Arts & Event Center.

During the weekend at Cedaredge Town Park, there will be live music, more than 200 artisan and food vendors, a chili cookoff, beer garden, antique car show, pinup competition and a 5K run. And, of course, apples. The festival runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Cedaredge Town Park, 350-398 SW Second Ave., Cedaredge. Denver Bake Fest, Saturday

This community bake competition is for bakers and lovers of baked goods.

With a host of competitors and five contest categories, there’s a range of samples to taste. Contest categories include brownies, whole grain savory, quick breads, sandwich cookies and gluten-free cakes.

The family-friendly festival will also have live music, baking demonstrations and games, kitchen tours and more.

Tasting tickets start at $1.25. The Denver Bake Fest goes from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Rebel Bread, 675 S. Broadway in the Denver Design District. More information can be found at rebelbreadco.com/bakefest.

Cider Days in Lakewood, Saturday-Sunday

With more than 50 apple-themed foods, drinks and activities, Lakewood Cider Days celebrates the town’s agricultural heritage.

Throughout the weekend, there will be live music, doggie costume contests, historical demos like an antique tractor race and, of course, a hard cider and beer garden.

The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Heritage Lakewood Belmar Park, 801 S. Yarrow St., Lakewood. Tickets range from $8-$15 (infants under 1 are free). More information at lakewood.org.

Penrose Apple Day, Saturday

This Saturday, Penrose will be celebrating the 2024 Apple Day with a parade, market and lots of treats.

In the morning, stop by one of the several Apple Day breakfasts, followed by the annual Apple Day Books Sale at Friends of Penrose Library. Then at 10:30 a.m., the children’s parade will commence, followed by the official Apple Day Parade at 11 a.m. (Don’t forget to snag a free piece of apple pie following the parade on Broadway). From noon-9 p.m. at Penrose Park, there will be a slew of activities, including vendors, a car show, bounce houses, a cake walk, a wine and cider garden, games, live music and a fireworks show in the evening.
