Burlington opens new Citadel Crossing store in Colorado Springs

Discount retailer Burlington’s newest store opened at 9 a.m. Friday at the Citadel Crossing shopping center in east central Colorado Springs after moving from The Citadel mall across the street.

At Citadel Crossing, 545 N. Academy Blvd. and northeast of Academy and Platte Avenue, Burlington will join Lowe’s, PetSmart, Office Depot, Chick-fil-A, Chipotle Mexican Grill and Black Eyed Pea, among other restaurants and retailers.

The move is a homecoming of sorts for Burlington; it had operated at the open-air Citadel Crossing from around 1990 to 2007 before it moved to a nearly 100,000-square-foot space at the enclosed mall. Its new Citadel Crossing store will have a much smaller footprint of about 25,000 square feet.

New Jersey-based Burlington bills itself as a leading off-price retailer of men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, shoes, home décor items, accessories and gifts. It now has 17 stores in Colorado and more than 1,020 nationwide. Its hours will be 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday; the store will close at 11 p.m. Sunday.
