Colorado Springs police arrest one in motor vehicle theft investigation Tuesday

The Colorado Springs Police Department arrested one adult male during a motor vehicle theft and robbery investigation Tuesday morning.

At approximately 10:30 a.m., while recovering a stolen vehicle, an officer obtained information associated with an additional stolen motor vehicle in the 1000 block of Irving Lane.

The second stolen vehicle was taken during a robbery that occurred days prior, police say. Officers then started to investigate the second stolen vehicle and determined it was linked to a suspect living on Irving Lane.

A search warrant was completed for the residence along with an arrest warrant for the suspect for motor vehicle theft. Multiple department units assisted with setting containment on the residence and ultimately getting the suspect to surrender, prior to executing the search warrant.

The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Mario Rascon, was transported to the El Paso County Jail on the warrant. The investigation into the robbery, along with additional crimes linked to the suspect, is ongoing.
