The Colorado Springs Police Department arrested one adult on multiple charges following a call for service regarding shots fired on the west side of Colorado Springs Tuesday morning.

At approximately 10:38 hours a.m., the Colorado Springs Police Department Communications Center received a call regarding gunshots in the area near Moreno Street and South 8th Street. Upon law enforcement’s arrival, officers located one 9mm shell casing.

Through an extensive follow-up investigation, officers were able to locate the suspect in a local park and take him to custody with no further incident. Police say the suspect was armed with a 9mm handgun believed to be used during the original call for service when officers located him.

The suspect, identified as Christian john Ortega, was booked into the El Paso County Jail for prohibited use of weapons and reckless endangerment.
