Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station is planning two fire training exercises that could generate visible smoke and fire Monday and Tuesday along with Oct. 4.

A news release from Peterson Space Force Base said the exercises are part of routine training and residents may see more emergency vehicles around the station west of Colorado 115.

The station’s training center has controls in place to ensure the training environment remains safe yet provides the maximum educational setting for the firefighting teams, the release said.

The exercise may disrupt traffic around the station and drivers should plan accordingly. The activity will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Monday and Tuesday and on Oct. 4. Every effort will be made to minimize inconvenience.

The Space Force Station hosts multiple Department of Defense missions and serves as the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and U.S. Northern Command’s Alternate Command Center and as a training site for crew qualification.
