Manitou Springs to close roads for Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon

Manitou Springs will be enacting multiple closures this weekend to accommodate runners in the Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon.

From 4:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday, Ruxton Avenue and Manitou Avenue and neighboring streets will be closed from Old Mans Trail to Ruxton Avenue.

Closures will be in place on the same streets Sunday, from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m., along with a separate closure of Ruxton Avenue from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

City officials are asking drivers to avoid these areas and take alternative routes Saturday and Sunday.

The Manitou Springs Library will open at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday due to the planned road closures.

The Pikes Peak Ascent is a 13.3-mile race Saturday starting from downtown Manitou Springs to the summit of Pikes Peak up the Barr Trail. All participants must complete a qualifying event before registering.

The Pikes Peak Marathon is scheduled Sunday.
