Ellicott School District 22 has sent students home from school Thursday morning after a lockdown.

An El Paso County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, Kurt Smith, said that the lockdown and shortened school day was out of “extreme caution” for an unspecified investigation.

“There is no actual, credible threat to the school itself,” Smith said.

Ellicott School District 22 did not respond to multiple calls by The Gazette for comment.

The incident comes a day after the Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests of two minors this week related to false threats.

The Colorado Springs Police Department said via X on Wednesday that officers were investigating multiple “nonspecific” threats to schools largely circulating on social media.
