Motorcyclist killed in ‘freak accident’ on I-25 identified
The El Paso County Coroner’s Office has positively identified a man who died Sunday in what Colorado State Patrol officials called a “freak accident” on Interstate 25.
Herry Rangingisan, 59, of Aurora, was riding a motorcycle in the southbound lanes of the interstate, near the Interquest Parkway exit, when a tire detached from a car traveling in the opposite direction, according to the State Patrol. The tire bounced into Rangingisan’s path, causing a crash that threw him from his bike.
First responders tried lifesaving measures at the scene before taking Rangingisan to a hospital, where he died.
Social media was inundated with messages of sorrow and condolence when the news broke, particularly in the Harley-Davidson riding community, of which Rangingisan was reportedly a member.
“We’re saddened by the news,” wrote a member of the Harley Davidson Club Indonesia — USA. “Our deepest condolences.”
The club’s Colorado chapter posted on Facebook, “May your last ride be to a place of peace and freedom, just like the roads you loved.”
No charges have been announced for the driver of the other vehicle.
