A man suspected of driving the wrong way on a Colorado Springs street Friday night is in custody after allegedly assaulting a police officer, law enforcement officials said.

Anthony Quintana, 31, is being held on $10,000 bail and faces a charge of assaulting a peace officer, among other charges, police said.

At about 11:40 p.m. on Friday, police were alerted to a vehicle moving west in the eastbound lanes of Lake Avenue, near South Nevada Avenue, according to a blotter entry. Officers found two people walking on the same road, in the same direction.

As the officers arrested the two suspects, one began resisting, punching one officer in the face, police said. That suspect was later identified as Quintana. The second suspect, whose name was not released, was arrested after allegedly obstructing officers.

The officer was treated on scene and released, police said.
