Motorcyclist killed in crash on I-25 in Colorado Springs after tire detaches from oncoming vehicle
A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Interstate 25 Sunday morning after a tire detached from another vehicle and hit the rider, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
The crash took place just before 9 a.m. on the southbound side of the interstate, near the Interquest Parkway exit, officials said.
Troopers and first responders found the injured rider and tried lifesaving measures, but he was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Investigators determined that the motorcycle was traveling south on I-25 when a Subaru, going in the opposite direction, lost a tire. The tire bounced across to the southbound side and into the path of the bike, causing it to lose control, officials said.
No other injuries were reported, and no citations or arrests were announced. The motorcyclist’s name was not released.
