New bakery and coffee shop opening in Colorado Springs | Table Talk
Kelly Bauman is realizing her life-long dream of opening her own bakery, KB Coffee & Bakery, 1802 Dominion Way. The grand opening will be 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 19.
The drive-thru coffee kiosk was formerly Pine to Peak Espresso, owned by married couple Rachel and Kick Green. Bauman, who was operating her bakery (formerly branded as Sweet Treats) out of The Hive Kitchen Market, has been selling her baked goods to the Greens for the past year years.
“I can’t thank Rachel and Nick enough for this life-changing opportunity,” Bauman said in a Facebook post. “I have been a customer for two years and a vendor of theirs the past year. I am so sad to see them go, but also so proud of them entering their next chapter. Please continue to support them until their last day on Sept 14.”
Bauman will have the same coffee menu but is adding more sweets and some savory options for breakfast and lunch.
“I’ll have breakfast and croissant sandwiches,” she said. “I will also continue doing my bakery goods out of the coffee shop and catering.”
In the days before the grand opening, Bauman will be repainting the little house a soft pink and getting her signage up.
The hours will be 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. Details: 719-377-2785, facebook.com/ KBCoffeeandBakery.
Taco time

Fernando Trancoso, owner of Tepex Otro Vex, is operating his taco cafe (formerly a food truck) at 19 N. Tejon St. in the Avenue 19 food hall. He also owns Inefable, his upscale formal dining restaurant, which had been housed upstairs in Avenue 19 but is temporarily closed as he scouts for a new location for it.
“We were looking at a new location downtown but are now looking north of the city for a spot,” he said.
Stay tuned for that announcement. In the meantime, check out his popular tacos that put him on the Springs culinary map. The food hall is a comfortable place to dine, have a drink and enjoy live music on weekends.
Related news: Upstate Pizzeria, which was operating downstairs in Avenue 19, will be relocated upstairs, filling the space left vacant by Inefable.
The hours for Tepex Otra Vex are 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Sundays and Mondays and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. Details: 719-761-6344, facebook.com/tepextate2020.
