One person was airlifted to the hospital and multiple were taken by ambulance following a crash east of Colorado Springs along Highway 94 late Monday night.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, troopers arrived on the scene of the crash at around 10:20 p.m. near Mile Post 12 to find two vehicles had collided.

Patrol spokesperson Gabriel Moltrer said at least one person was transported to the hospital by helicopter and multiple others by ambulance to be treated for injuries sustained amid the crash.

Moltrer said Highway 94 remained closed for several hours to allow for a preliminary investigation and reopened shortly after 1:30 a.m.

A family member has identified the injured individuals as belonging to the Valdez family of Yoder in a GoFundMe page asking for help with medical expenses.

According to the GoFundMe, the family of four was heading home from a World Wrestling Entertainment event when they struck a truck carrying a trailer making a U-turn at 70 mph. The page states that the mother Carrie Valdez was transported by helicopter to an area hospital, and the husband and two teenage children were also sent to a nearby hospital for injuries. One party involved in the crash has been identified as Carrie and Joel Valdez, and their two children, according to a GoFundMe started by a member of the family.

The crash remains under investigation. Patrol officials said alcohol consumption does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
