Firefighters late Monday morning contained a structure fire in Peyton, northeast of Colorado Springs.

The Peyton Fire Protection District did not immediately return a voice message from The Gazette Monday afternoon seeking more information about the blaze.

Colorado Springs news station KKTV reported firefighters with the Peyton Fire Protection District responded around 11 a.m. to calls of a fire burning in Peyton. A shop caught fire and caused minor damage to a nearby home, but firefighters contained the blaze, the station said.

One person was treated for smoke inhalation and later released, according to KKTV reports.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Fire crews from Peyton, Falcon, Calhan and Ellicott responded to the incident.
