Labor Day Lift Off 2024 is looking up in Colorado Springs!

Hot air balloons will fill the air at the 2024 Colorado Springs Labor Day Lift Off from Memorial Park at 1605 E. Pikes Peak Ave., on Saturday, August 31 through Monday, September 2. Early morning launches each day at 7 a.m. and evening balloon glows at 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday continue a captivating tradition that attendees will want to photograph.

A one-of-a-kind opportunity to snap a one-of-a-kind image of the Colorado landscape

Shutterbugs are invited to capture and submit their best photos of 70 balloons afloat over the three-day period. There’s magic in the display of light and color! Entrants in the Labor Day Lift Off Official Photo Contest, sponsored by Mike’s Camera and The Salvation Army, will have the opportunity to win exciting prizes, including:

  • First Place: A hot air balloon ride for two during the 2025 season.
  • Second Place: A Fujifilm Instax Link WIDE Smartphone Printer from Mike’s Camera.
  • Third Place: Two tickets to the Steve Miller Band concert on September 27 at the Ford Amphitheater, courtesy of The Salvation Army.

Sustained support

Mike’s Camera and The Salvation Army have sponsored the Labor Day Lift Off Official Photo Contest previously. What do the business and organization have in common with the photography competition? Each of them works to provide uplifting experiences: Mike’s Camera through the sale of cameras and photographic equipment, and camera school classes and events; and The Salvation Army through programs and services that answer the call to meet human needs, improving the lives of the most vulnerable in the community.
