Colorado Springs classical music concert reimagines Taylor Swift songs

It’s only a matter of time before Taylor Swift tribute singers start making the rounds.

In the meantime, though, Swifties and classical music fans can catch a classical music tribute to the global pop star’s hits. Fever, a live entertainment company that spreads classical music events around the world, will bring “Candlelight: A Tribute to Taylor Swift” to First United Methodist Church on Saturday.

Fever’s Candlelight Concerts series launched in 2019 and has visited more than 150 cities.

“We recognized the need to make classical music more accessible to a wider audience and reach beyond the core demographic of classical music enthusiasts,” said Amanda Boucault, Fever’s press and communications coordinator.

Fever finds regional musicians to play the sit-down, 60-minute shows in nontraditional concert halls while surrounded by stacks of LED candles. Saturday’s performance will feature Range Ensemble, a string quartet from Denver whose members have performed and recorded with Adele, Yo Yo Ma, Joni Mitchell, Ariana Grande, John Legend and Paul McCartney.

“To reach a wider audience that might have never considered a classical music concert before, the experience reimagines the traditional concert format,” Boucault said.

The evening’s set list features old and new Swift hits, including “Love Story,” “Cardigan,” “Blank Space,” “Enchanted,” “Anti-Hero,” “Lavender Haze,” “But Daddy I Love Him,” “You Belong With Me” and “Shake It Off.”

“This multisensory experience enables a broader audience that might have never considered a classical music concert before to connect with the most iconic pieces of the greatest composers,” Boucault said, “and listen to the top hits of well-known artists in a different way.”
