A portion of Austin Bluffs Parkway will close Friday and Saturday so crews can repair a damaged wastewater main line.

Westbound Austin Bluffs Parkway between Goldenrod Drive and Union Boulevard will close beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, Colorado Springs Utilities announced in a Wednesday news release. The road will reopen at 9 a.m. Sunday.

Local traffic only will be allowed on Austin Bluffs between North Academy Boulevard and Goldenrod Drive.

Utilities crews will perform the emergency repairs. The wastewater line was damaged Monday afternoon by a contractor performing gas-line work in the area, according to the release.

Crews won’t make repairs until Friday because of the complexity of the repair and traffic impacts, Utilities officials said.

Utilities is managing wastewater through the repairs. Officials said they expect no impacts on utility services to nearby customers during the work.
